United Methodist Foundation of Northern Illinois has announced a "Moderate ex-Carbon 200" portfolio option. If your congregation is considering moving its investments away from carbon (coal, oil, natural gas), here's an option that also follows other United Methodist policies for good investments that also do good in the world.
The "Carbon 200," or "CU 200" for Carbon Underground 200, are the 200 companies which have the largest underground reserves of fossil fuels. Keeping them in the ground to the greatest extent possible is crucial for avoiding the worst effects of climate change. Annual Conference asked the Foundation to create such a portfolio last year, and it's now available! Contact the Foundation for more information about this portfolio.
